Duncan started his estate agency career in Farnham in 1985 and has worked locally ever since. Frustrated with corporate estate agency, he founded Castles in 1992, with a quest to improve customer service. Since 2004 Castles has been a family business, with his wife Penny running Castles lettings. Always looking to keep at the forefront of developments in the industry, Duncan is now a Fellow of The National Association of Estate Agents. Duncan was also one of the first people in the country to qualify as a Home Inspector and has recently achieved the Level 3 NVQ in The Sale of Residential Property. Born in Liverpool, Duncan is a lifelong ‘Red’ although he lost his accent when he moved to the Isle of Wight as a boy. He joined his family when they moved to Farnham in the early 80’s and has remained in the area. Duncan lives with his wife Penny and Millie the cat. Duncan and Penny have two grown up boys who often return home! In what little spare time he has, Duncan enjoys mountain biking, walking and cooking.
Kelly joined Castles in 2010 as a Weekend Assistant and has since risen through the ranks to become Senior Lettings Negotiator and has just recently celebrated her 10 year anniversary at Castles. Kelly has been in the industry for over 15 years and is now fully ARLA qualified having completed the relevant exams. She started her career back in 2005 working for an independent agent covering Haslemere, Liphook, Hindhead and Farnham. Kelly is responsible for the valuing, taking on and marketing of all our rental property. She also manages the move-in and check-out process. Kelly says she particularly enjoys the variety her role offers her, the customer service and meeting new people. Kelly is a local girl having grown up in Frensham with her family. She bought her first home in Whitehill in 2015 with her partner Graham and they have a 2 year old daughter Isla. In her spare time she enjoys walking her black Labrador Hunter, and spending time with family and friends.
Penny joined the family business in 2004, working in the sales team. In 2011 Penny became a director of Castles and set up the lettings side of the business. Having previously worked for a tourism company for 20 years, the job of letting houses is quite different from arranging holidays but the goal is all about providing good quality advice to the customer. Penny deals with all aspects of the lettings process; landlords legal obligations, setting up of tenancies, carrying out property inspections and arranging maintenance jobs and generally ensuring the lettings team runs smoothly. Penny is a fully licensed member of ARLA Propertymark having obtained the Technical Award in Residential Lettings in 2011 and keeps up to date with the ever changing regulations and legislation involved in letting residential property. Penny enjoys her spare time gardening, walking & cycling to keep fit, and more recently knitting, a new lockdown hobby, as well as spending time with family.
Kate joined the Castles team in 2019. Having grown up in a military family, with her father in the RAF, she has lived both in the UK and overseas in Germany and Cyprus.
When her father left the Armed Forces she went to work for NAAFI, where she covered a variety of roles relishing in the different challenges and experiences on offer. She was posted to Germany in 2006 where three years later she met her husband. Moving between the UK and two more military postings to Cyprus means that Kate has had first-hand experience of moving into various properties as a tenant, so it became inevitable, with her passion for houses, that she would progress into a lettings agent role. In addition, she helped her father find his current property and her sister a flat that she lived in for a number years.
Kate has a Level 2 NVQ in Business Administration and Level 1 in hairdressing. Kate and her husband are now back in the UK permanently and live in Aldershot with their 9 year old son.
Melanie recently joined Castles as ‘Client Manager’, getting involved in all areas of the business. She started her estate agency career in 2003 as a Saturday viewing assistant, in North West London, where she originally lived. She moved to Fleet in 2005 with her twins.
In 2007 she took a part time Sales Negotiator Role for Bairstow Eves in Windsor where she was until 2011. Melanie has worked in several other estate agencies and has a good knowledge of Aldershot and the surrounding areas.
Since working at Castles she is broadening her knowledge, benefitting from Castles’ 30 years’ experience in the local market. Already studying for The Guild of Property Professionals Associate Member Scheme Melanie will be helping clients along their journey from start to finish, very much the Castles’ way.
Like many working in estate agency, before working as an estate agent Melanie had a varied career including several customer service roles, Prudential life and a Physiotherapy Clinic in Wokingham.
In her spare time Melanie enjoys socialising with friends and family. Melanie loves to travel especially to explore countries that she has not visited before. Melanie loves to keep fit especially, if the weather is good, to cycle a few laps of Fleet Pond to beat her last time record.
Melanie’s current housemate is a ‘very spoilt’ black and white cat who called Gizmo or Mo when he has been naughty.
